About Knock Knock

The aim of this campaign is to raise awareness of "safety at the door" with primary school children (years 5 and 6), their parents, grandparents, carers, elderly relatives or neighbours.

The campaign began in Cheshire East in 2011 with officers from the Cheshire East Council Trading Standards delivering lessons with year 5 and 6 students and teachers mainly on doorstep safety and crime awareness but also including consumer rights when purchasing goods or services. Following the lessons the students are invited to design a poster for entry into that years calendar competition. Click on the poster competition to see designs produced by the children as part of the project.

Along with the lessons this mini website was developed to provide information and resources to enable schools to continue to teach children about the importance of doorstep safety. Teachers can either use the lesson plan and PowerPoint provided, or choose any of the activities and resources available on the site.

Links are also provided on this website should teachers require further background materials informing them of national campaigns aimed at people of all ages to reduce bogus callers and doorstep crime.

If you would like to be part of the Knock Knock 4CE campaign use the 'have your say' page and let us know.
